Sucked. Yeah, don't go see it. Maybe rent it cheap for a bad movie night, but I wouldn't.
The thing just tried to hard in all the wrong places. The fight scenes were horribly one sided, unbelievable, predictable and just plain not that fun. The characters were horribly one dimensional with, I'd say 2 good moments. Both by actors in bit parts. If you want a decent action movie watch the first one.
Or better yet any of the Jason Bourne movies. Those ones have good combat AND good acting.

exactly. You can figure out that Frodo is taking his sweet-ass time dropping the ring off at Mount Doom quite nicely from #2.

But by missing the first movie you don't get to see all the. .. . um. . ..you miss mordor!!!

technically Moria AND Lothlorien are in the first movie...but now i'm just being a jerk...its what I excel in!

Ah, but you get random glimpses of Lothlorien in later ones sometimes. (You might get random glimpses of Moria too, but I'm not 100% positive because it has been a LONG time since I've watched them)
