Well, for kicks, I'll tell you what me and my dad did one year.
My dad dressed me up in these huge overalls and put a mask on me. Then he stuffed leaves inside the sleaves and pant legs and underneath the mask. So I was basically a pretend scarecrow that was a live. I know, lame right? But wait, there's more...
We also had a container with bread, ketchup, and water, and hamburg mixed in, so it was like guts. My dad laid me on the ground, undid a couple buttons in my overalls, then put the container inside. He had his own mask on, and when kids would come by, he'd be playing with my guts and asking if anyone wants to try some liver. In the meantime, I was laying still. Kids would work their way around us, but was they passed my head I'd reach out for them and start screaming "Help me! For God's sake, help me! It hurts!" They'd run and scream and cry. It was great!
Some kids didn't have the guts to get past us and get the candy. Some parents wouldn't even let their kids near the house. It was the best Halloween I ever had, and we had a whole bunch of leftover candy, so it's like I went trick-or-treating after all!
