the artwook in the new d20 Call of Cthulu book is pretty sparse and often surprisingly unimpressive, given the reputed horror and terror of the dastardly things therein. I mean, lordy, no artwork for Cthonians? No artwork for the Old Ones? How cool is that? I answer ye, not at all!

:-[Admittedly the book does lack the quantity of artwork contained within the Chaosium version, not to mention a lack of information on insanities and Cthulhu Mythos sources. That being said, one must rememer that it was essentially produced by D&D rules which makes the product, given the current version of D&D, invariably streamlined for the sake of cost and potential to con buyers into buying more setting books which turn out to only contain more rules.
