I figured I'd share what I was planning with all that stuff that was happening. Admittedly, some of the more specific details came to me later that night, but they were neat ideas and I don't want them to go kapoof. It's how I work. There is an effect, and I think of the cause after.
That and I woke up early and can't get back to sleep :/
Anywho, the significance of the book which was sorta but not really the focus of the campaign. It was very simply, the personal journal of that guy whose house you destroyed. We will call him Fed. He was a mummy and kept a rather detailed account of where he went, why, what he did and, most importantly, how he felt. Veiling anything incriminating behind analogies and metaphors of course . Fred wasn't stupid enough to say 'Today I found a den of leeches and unleashed the power of Ra to cleanse their corrupted flesh'.
The one mage who wanted the book, the correspondence guy really didn't expect to be outright killed when he went to go get it from you. He was a Nephandi, although only recently converted and was under the impression that you two were mortals. This group has had no past experience with vampires or werewolves and he brought along his two friends for no other reason than strength in numbers. Obviously, that didn't help him.
He was gambling on "Hah, you can't hurt me, I'm obviously more powerful than you so you will just do as I say out of fear." Would have worked if you two were mortal
Continuing, he wanted the journal because he had recently come in contact with a Bane mummy. Now, he had only the basest understanding of what Fred the mummy actually is. Whatever the Bane felt like telling him really. This Bane mummy has been stalking Fred for a rather long time now and was on the verge of discovering Fred's True Name. That journal was the final piece he needed. In exchange for the book, the bane mummy was going to "introduce" the Nephandi too the Wyrm. The Nephandi thought he was manipulating the bane mummy. He thought the Bane was a pansy and a fool. Suffice to say, you did the mage a favor by bashing his skull in. His other fate would have been MUCH worse.
Moving on. The mage had been watching the book for a while, several months actually, but wasn't sure how to get it. Bit of a chicken really, didn't want to risk himself. The Bane was getting a bit annoyed by the mage's lack of progress, so he contacted a local Follower of Set. This Setite called in a favor to another vamp, and that vamp sent her childer, and that childer came to you. To add more intrigue to this, Rob's main fencer was in fact this Setite's ghoul. Wasn't sure how I'd introduce that, but I was trying.
Yes, my plots are amazingly convoluted despite the fact that I claim there is no plot And that was all just about the book. Fred the mummy was going to pop up once or twice and try and get his revenge, but he would soon begin to get more and more corrupted. He would blame you of course and you'd have no idea why. The why would hopefully be revealed later.
As for the skulls and the baby heads? Well, I actually have more thought out for that, and it once again involved Rob's fencer. How much crap does that guy have his tendrils in anyways? But my wrist is getting sore and I'm tired again. Maybe I'll post it later if anyone cares
Shauna, tell Rob to read this!!! I think it goes a ways explaining what goes on in my head. The random crap actually does have a completely valid reason for happening. I just don't always know what it is right away.
