The Heart of Osiris, take 2

Well, I am pleased to say, this time it went A LOT better.

For anyone who doesn't know this story, the Heart of Osiris is a ruby the size of a fist that the Vampire Prince Saphra claims to have stolen from Osiris' chest. The ruby has been stolen, and he is offering a large reward to anyone who brings it back.

Originally, it was set in Winnipeg with starting level characters. Bryan and Chad were the two who were playing. Bryan's character, Chris, wanted to enlarge his domain, while Chad's character Jack Sharpe had to help out as payment for entering the city without presenting himself to the Prince (Chad's character was newly embraced, and knew nothing of Vampire society).

So Bryan was the only one who had all the information of what was going on. But before revealing anything, he demanded payment from Chad for trespassing on his domain. Payment was to be a drink of Bryan's blood. So he slit his wrist and, instead of pouring some into a glass, lets Chad drink it straight from the vein.

To make this even more funny, this was going on RIGHT OUTSIDE THE PRINCE'S PLACE!!! So of course, someone saw Chad's character diablerize Bryan. So Bryan dies and Chad runs away to Thunder Bay in an attempt to escape the blood hunt. End of Story.

So Take 2 of the Heart of Osiris started off a bit differently. For starters, it was set on Manhattan Island instead of in Winnipeg. Also, the characters were Elders, not Neonates. Bryan's character was Henry Etta, a Ravnos who liked trying to summon demons in his penthouse. Alex was Jeffrey Portishead, a Tzimisce serial killer who had to eat his victims to gain nourishment.

To start off with, both Jeffrey and Henry were summoned to Saphra's so he could request their help in finding his gem. Jeffrey was the first to go, and he took a thourough look at everything. Henry came as Jeffrey was leaving; Henry said he would help, but didn't want any information on the gem. He then went to spread false rumours about Assamites and Setites possibly going to war.

Jeffrey, on the other hand, started going to bars and whatnot to find out what he could. He eventually ran into Henry. They decided to help each other, and Henry told Jeffrey which rumours were the ones he had spread.

While they were talking, Jeffrey noticed someone watching Henry. Going to investigate, he discovered it was Jared, the Prince's Gangrel body guard. Jared speaks with Jeffrey in private, telling him he thinks Erin, Saphra's trusted advisor, was the one to steal the gem. However, Jeffrey knew Jared was lying when he asked Jared whether the Gangrel knew what had happened to the gem. Jared, however, walked away.

So Jeffrey continued his investigation, asking about Erin and about Glasswalkers (due to some of the rumours he had encountered). The next night, he went to visit with Erin. She was much more helpful than Jared had been, even giving Jeffrey information on one Sal Edwards, a Tremere who had years earlier wanted to be Prince. He was beaten out by Saphra only after Erin herself had sided with him.

Jeffrey then went to find Sal, but discovered he was out for the evening, headed for Henry's.

Henry was busy getting ready for his weekly gathering to attempt a demon summoning. Just before they started, Jeffrey came, so Henry invited him to stay. The demon summoning didn't work, so Henry made an illusion of one so everyone else thought it had worked. They then went to party afterwards. At this time, Jeffrey went to talk to Sal. Sal was incredibly vague, which only pissed Jeffrey off some more (he was sick of people he thought of as equals being jack-asses to him). Sal went to leave, and Jeffrey followed him into the elevator. He ended up knocking Sal out, wrapping him in his coat, then walking out. Jared was in the lobby, waiting for Sal. Jeffrey wandered out, and got a bit of a lead before Jared phoned up to Henry, wondering where Sal was and finding out Sal had left at the same time Jeffrey had. He managed to get to Jeffrey's just after Jeffrey got inside with Sal.

Jeffrey wandered out and told Jared that if Jared didn't give him some answers, Sal would fry in the sun. Jared then turned into a bunch of bats and went looking for Sal. Jeffrey went to get groceries, and when he came back, Jared reformed in front of him, accusing him that Sal wasn't actually in danger of being killed by the sun. Jeffrey confirmed that Sal indeed was safely inside. He let Jared in, and they were just going to sit down when Henry showed up. So then the three of them sat down, and Jared provided some answers, with the promise that Sal would not be hurt.

Sal had gotten Jared to steal the gem. Jared had simply shut the security system down for a little bit and taken the gem. Being in charge of Saphra' security, Jared claimed that everything was fine with the security, leaving Saphra to believe it was through supernatural means that his gem was stolen. So, for releasing Sal and not telling anyone what had happened, Jared said he would do Jeffrey a favour at some point in the future.

The next night, Jeffrey went to release Sal, explaining what had happened, and getting a favour out of him as well. Afterwards, he told the Prince that he couldn't find anything.
